TUESDAY, MARCH 19 Markesha Crawford, of 4520 Prince St. in Downers Grove, was charged with no driver's license, speeding and canceled, suspended or revoked registration at 5:54 p.m. in the 7600 block of Lyman, police said. Crawford was processed and released with a court date pending in Downers Grove. A man is behind bars after he was found with about 40 bags of heroin. Bolingbrook police arrested Chad E. Hinshaw, 32, of Pontiac, at 6:10 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Remington Boulevard and Brookview Lane. Hinshaw was a passenger in a car that had been stopped by police for failing to signal when required after cutting across three lanes of traffic. The traffic violation resulted in causing several other commuters to apply their brakes to avoid a collision with the car, police said. Officers said they saw Hinshaw “duck down and then briskly move around the seat.” After approaching the vehicle, police said Hinshaw continued to fidget and act nervous. Police Blotter: Drinking Teens Taken to Hospital, Home Burglarized

James K. McCann, 27, of the 3000 block of 83rd Street in Woodridge, was arrested around 1:55 a.m. in a parking lot at 8105 Cass Avenue, Darien police said. McCann was seen urinating on the side of the building, police said. He was charged with public urination and released. Vandals smashed the windows of a city-owned vehicle parked around midnight behind the Public Works building at 1041 S. Frontage Rd., police said. Someone also damaged the hood of a city-owned Ford Taurus parked next to it. Bad words were spray-painted overnight on a fence separating town homes on the 1000 block of Parkcrest from Concord Elementary School, police said. Cleanup will cost about $500. Avery D. Police: Burglars Posed as Fired City Contractors

Several pieces of jewelry were stolen from a woman's home while three men claimed to give her an estimate for tree-trimming work, police said.

More than $1,600 worth of jewelry was reported missing Dec. 26 from a home on the 1400 block of 77th Street after three men offered to give the homeowner a tree-trimming estimate, police said. The men told the woman they had recently been fired from the city of Darien’s tree-trimming program, the report said. One of the men disappeared at one point for about 10 minutes. When the woman later went to put on her jewelry, she noticed that several pieces were missing, police said. The Darien Police Department does not have any suspects in the burglary, Chief Ernest Brown said. The city contracts Steve Piper & Sons for its tree-trimming program. “No tree contractor has been fired by the city,” Municipal Services Dan Gombac said. General Manager …

Police Blotter: Man Crashes into Light Pole, Fight at Carriage Greens

Kevin M. McMahon, 36, of the 00W100 block of 91st Street in Willowbrook, was arrested around 2:05 a.m. near the intersection of South Frontage Road and White Deer, police said. Officers said they saw him driving east and swerving between lanes on South Frontage Road. His speed ranged from 40 to 68 mph in a 45-mph zone, police said. While searching McMahon, police found three baggies of marijuana in his pockets, as well as a marijuana pipe in his car’s armrest, according to the report. He also had a silver flask filled with alcohol, police said. McMahon declined to take a Breathalyzer test. Police Blotter: Two Home Burglaries, DUIs

Vandals shot BBs at a house on the 1100 block of Hinsbrook, damaging glass on a light in front of the home, as well as some of the house’s siding, police said. The BBs caused $350 of damage. John O. Walcott, 23, of the 1600 block of Royal Oak Drive, was arrested around 2:10 a.m. near the intersection of North Frontage and Clarendon Hills Road, police said. Officers said they saw Walcott drive erratically and crossing onto the shoulder of North Frontage Road. Walcott said he was driving to a friend’s house after drinking at a bar, police said. Officers said they saw one opened beer in the front door of Walcott’s car, as well as a number of sealed beer cans and bottles. Police Blotter: Attempted Home Burglary, DUI Near Route 83, I-55

Richard E. Hansen, 55, of the 8000 block of Fieldcrest Avenue in Willow Springs, was arrested around 12:40 a.m. near Route 83 and Interstate 55, police said. An officer saw Hansen’s car swerve both within its lane and over the center-lane line, according to the report. The officer said he tried to stop Hansen near Cass Avenue and I-55, but Hansen didn’t pull over for about 2 miles. Hansen was charged with driving under the influence, failure to yield to authorized emergency vehicle and improper lane usage, police said. Kurt C. Hotchkin, 28, of the 6800 block of Carpenter Street in Downers Grove, was arrested around 4:21 p.m. on the 800 block of Plainfield Road, police said. Police: Two Men Attempt Home Burglary in Construction Ruse

One man poses as construction worker, while the other goes upstairs in home on Claremont, police say.

Two men attempted to burglarize a home on the 1500 block of Claremont by tricking the homeowners into thinking one of them was a construction worker, the Darien Police Department said. Around 3:30 p.m., a man knocked on the home’s front door and asked the homeowner a question about property lines, according to the report. The homeowner led the man through his home and out to the back patio, where police said he showed him the property line. The man then asked if anyone else was home, and the homeowner told him that his wife was also home. Using a two-way radio, the man said something in Spanish to another man, who the homeowner’s wife found walking upstairs. Nothing was taken and both the men left without incident. Police Blotter: Champagne Wishes Become Bad Dream

Someone stole a woman’s purse after she left it in her unlocked car while she picked her kids up from school around 3:15 p.m., police said. The purse held a Burberry wallet, $100 cash, an iPod, sunglasses and a key fob, as well as other items, according to the report. The total loss is about $1,365. A woman living on the 1000 block of Sean Circle said someone stole a red Toro snow blower from her garage while she took groceries from her car into her home around 2:45 p.m., police said. She told police the garage door was open while she unloaded the groceries. The snow blower is worth about $400.  Christine A.
