New Era of DYC Indoor Soccer to Kick Off

The Darien Youth Club (DYC) is pleased to announce a new venue for its indoor soccer program this winter season. Beginning November of this year, DYC members from kindergarten through 8th grade will be playing at Westmont Yard.

“We’re extremely excited about this partnership,” says DYC Vice-President Joe Wasler. “It’s a financial win for the Club, members are getting a great value, the facilities are top-notch and there will be new training opportunities for our kids.”

Financial Savings + New Training Opportunities
Over the past few years, changes in registration numbers have made it difficult for the DYC to afford to run an indoor soccer program at the Sportsplex. Though the DYC’s preference is to utilize a facility in Darien, no mutual agreement with the Darien Park District could be realized to keep all the indoor leagues in their current location. “This move to Westmont Yard should help the Club break even on indoor soccer,” explains DYC President Dave Leatherwood.

The Yard will also be offering training sessions to DYC members at a reduced rate. In addition, to increase the variety of competition, Divisions with only a few teams will have the chance to play against other recreational leagues (AYSO, other Park Districts).

Registration to Begin Mid-September
Registration for DYC Indoor Soccer will begin on the DYC website in mid-September and there will be (2) sessions available for most Divisions, November-December and January-February. Teams will still be coached by DYC parents and assembled/drafted by DYC’s Soccer Commissioner and Directors.

“We greatly value our on-going relationship with the Darien Park District, but this is a move we had to make for the financial health of the Club,” says Wasler. “We look forward to seeing our kids play at the Yard… it’s a new era of DYC indoor soccer getting underway.”
